In 1957, Joseph and Vera Binns came to Canada from the UK and started Binns Kitchen + Bath Design out of their own home. It took six years of hard work, but in 1963 they opened the first Binns showroom, originally called “The Kitchen Place,” to provide kitchen renovation and kitchen design in Pickering.
In 1971, their son Raymond joined the business as a kitchen designer and has striven tirelessly for 40 years to continue the Binns tradition of providing excellent custom kitchens in Toronto and first-class customer service as the company’s president. In 2012, Raymond was recognized for his life-long dedication to kitchen renovation with his induction into the Ontario National Kitchen and Bath Association Hall of Fame, an organization which Binns cofounded in 1977.
He still leads the company alongside his own children, Director of Business Development Keith and Creative Director Beverly, herself a highly respected kitchen designer with multiple industry awards. Together, they’ve grown Binns far past anything Joseph and Vera could have imagined in 1957, going from offering kitchen design in Pickering, to all of Southern Ontario. But the focus remains on delivering elegant custom kitchens and smooth kitchen renovation to their customers, as it has for half a century.
